Friends of the Speedway Public Library

Mission

The Friends of the Speedway Public Library are volunteers who serve the Speedway Public Library. Our mission is to strengthen, promote and champion the Speedway Public Library through volunteering and fundraising. The Friends sponsor many library programs including bus trips, book discussions, and the Summer Reading Programs. To help fund these programs the Friends have an ongoing sales room, semi-annual book sales, silent auctions, community sales and race day parking. The Friends also fund the monthly library newsletter, the Speed Reader, that contains library news and new book lists.

The Friends' Room

The Friends' Room is open whenever the library is open and has ongoing used book, DVD, CD, magazine and puzzle sales. The room is located past the Children's room, near Community Room C at the library. The room contains a variety of both fiction and non-fiction materials at very low prices for children, youth and adults.

Donations

The Friends seek donations of books, DVDs, CDs, magazines and puzzles for their sales. Donations may be dropped off at the library during regular hours.

Membership

To join the Friends, stop by the library and ask for a membership form. Memberships start as low as $10 annually. Membership perks include a copy of the Speed Reader sent to you in the mail each month.
