Did You Hear That?

Keep an eye (and an ear!) open for three special programs coming in April. More details will be available soon!

Marching into March

Spring is almost here, but there is plenty to do at the library until the first day of spring on March 20th.

There are still spaces available for the kids' book discussion on March 13th! If you enjoy the "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" series, sign up soon. Game Day will also be held this day. Visit the library for more information.

Addy will visit on March 17th for PAWS to Read and we will make a craft on the 20th. Check the library events page or visit the library for Storytime and Toddler Time dates.

Kids' Book Discussion!

The library will hold a special kids' book discussion on Saturday, March 13th at 10:30 am! We will talk about and play games based on Jeff Kinney's Diary of a Wimpy Kid. The program will focus on the first book in the series, so it's okay if you have not read them all yet!

Programs in 2010

We hope everyone has been having a great new year! We are wrapping up our programs for January, but be sure to join us in February for our usual monthly programs.

Have you participated in our PAWS to Read program? Addy the Saint Bernard will be visiting on February 17th. It's a great way to practice your reading skills and Addy is a great listener.

Keep checking back for updates on kids' programs. There may be a special event coming in the next couple of months. :)

Thank you!

Thanks to everyone who attended the Friends' annual Christmas party! It was a great evening!

Don't forget about our other programs in December, including PAWS to Read and two Game Days!

December Programs and Announcements

We hope you had a great Thanksgiving! Are you getting ready for the holidays and the New Year? The library is!

The Friends of the Speedway Public Library invites you to their annual Christmas party. The festivities will begin at 6:15 p.m. on Monday, December 7th. Help trim the library's tree, then enjoy a performance by Adzooks Puppets. After that, there will be another special visitor to end the evening. Can you guess who it is?

Canned food donations will be accepted.

You can also see an exmple of this month's craft at the front desk at the library.

Giving Thanks in November

Welcome to November! The weather is getting cooler and the leaves are falling. Thanksgiving will be here before you know it. Do you know the story of the holiday? There are plenty of Thanksgiving books on the holiday shelf!

Our usual programs will continue this month. Visit the library or check the library events page for dates. For the craft on the 21st, we will be making wreaths for Thanksgiving. A sample will be available at the front desk soon.

Here comes Halloween!

Halloween is just around the corner. Have you decided on your costume yet? Before going out to trick-or-treat, stop by the library and check out the Friends' book sale.

October is coming to a close. Thanks to everyone who participated in our programs this month. It's been a great one! Addy heard some wonderful new stories, things got competitive (but fun!) at Game Day, and eerie haunted houses were constructed. Be sure to join us again in November. Check back soon to see what's going on at the library next month!

Halloween Craft

Want to see what we will be making for this month's craft? Come to the front desk the next time you visit the library. A sample craft is on display.

Falling into Autumn

September 22nd marks the first day of fall! The weather will be getting cooler, the leaves will start changing color, and some animals will be preparing to sleep through winter. Have you ever wondered why these things happen? Visit the kids' non-fiction section! You can read all about the seasons under J508.2. Find out about trees in J582.16. Discover which animals will be getting ready to hibernate under J591.56. You can even read some poems about autumn under J811. Of course, you can also visit the holiday section to read about this season's holidays, such as Halloween.
